Abstract
This paper presents the influence of air flow imbalance on performance of an evaporator and the effect of the refrigerant flow path pattern. To estimate the influence, we applied a thermal network method that takes refrigerant quality distribution in the heat exchanger into account. The prediction shows that performance of the evaporator falls by 6% with a 40% imbalance of air flow rate for a simple 2 rows and 2 paths heat exchanger. Also, the prediction shows that the performance level will be recovered to when the air flow distribution is uniform by optimizing refrigerant flow path pattern. Β© 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
