The need to incorporate and treat information given in fuzzy terms in Relational Databases has concentrated a great effort in the last years. This article focuses on the treatment of functional dependencies (f.d.1 between attributes of a relation scheme. We review other approaches to this problem an

The concept of fuzzy multivalued dependencies (FMVDs) is introduced. It is concluded that FMVDs are more generalised than classical multivalued dependencies. A set of sound and complete inference rules, similar to Armstrong's axioms are proposed to derive more dependencies from a given set of FMVDs.

This paper presents FROM, the fuzzy relational ontological model, a novel approach to encode knowledge for information retrieval applications based upon a fuzzy set framework that consider more generic concepts differently from specific terms. Besides the model itself, the paper also presents a retr
