This invention relates to a seal for a screw-top bottle. The aim of the invention is to provide a seal that is easy to handle and inexpensive to produce. For this purpose, the seal comprises several deformed sections that are plastically deformed in such a manner that they form recesses (21, 22) in the outer peripheral surface of the seal. They are also adapted to the threaded section (5, 6) on the interior (25, 26) of the cap.
