โฆ Synopsis
Inelastic interactions of kinks and breathers in the sine-Gordon equation with different perturbations arc considered. In the presence of the dissipative perturbation the break-up of a breather into a kink-antikink pair due to the collision with a fast kink is investigated. Under the action of conservative perturbations the following processes are considered: the' fusion of a kink-antikink pair into a breather due to the emission of radiation; the break-up of a breather due to the interaction with a nonsoliton wavetrain or a small amplitude fast breather; the radiative capture of a kink by a localized inhomogeneity. In all the cases the threshold characteristics of the inelastic processes are calculated.
