Indétectable raconte au plus près la vie de Mady, sans papiers, sur le qui-vive depuis qu’il est venu d’Afrique, il y a dix ans. On le suit dans ses parcours limités à travers Paris, ses peurs, ses détresses, ses démarches inabouties, son amour difficile pour Mariama. On le voit aller d’abri en abri, trouver un temps refuge chez le narrateur, rejoindre parfois ses camarades au foyer, ce petit palace déglingué du Père-Lachaise où l’on palabre, se retrouve, et se tient chaud, et puis repartir avec sa vaillance intacte vers une place qu’on lui accordera peut-être.
Ce récit d’une existence fragile et condamnée à l’ombre redonne à Mady une dignité et une densité humaines que le mot neutre, générique et commode de sans papiers pourrait faire oublier.
