Single crystal AIN fibers [Ii01 elongated up to 20 mm length and up to 40 pm diameter were obtained by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) starting from a mixture of Al, AIN and NHdCl under 100 atm. of Nz. Two types of fibers were obtained: (i) long, thin fibers with smooth surfaces an
