β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
The nerve growth factor protein (NGF) stimulates neurite outgrowth from embryonic sensory ganglia and sympathetic ganglia at all stages of development. In addition, NGF is required for the maintenance of the differentiated state in adult sympathetic ganglia. A clonal cell line, IMRβ32, derived from a human neuroblastoma was found to contain a population of cells that respond to NGF by exhibiting morphological differentiation. The effect of NGF on these cells is compared with that of other agents known to induce differentiation of IMRβ32, including gliomaβconditioned media.

The gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) response profiles of IMR-32 human neuroblastoma cells were examined using whole-cell patch clamp and RT-PCR techniques. GABA activated a concentration-dependent and bicuculline-sensitive current, and RT-PCR revealed the expression of multiple GABA(A) receptor subun
Epithelial expression of the 75-kDa low-affinity neurotrophin receptor (p75 NTR ) is inversely associated with the malignant progression of the human prostate. To elucidate the function of p75 NTR in the prostate, the human prostate epithelial tumor cell line TSU-pr1, which does not express p75 NTR
Human pregnancy zone protein (PZP) is a major pregnancy-associated plasma protein closely related to human alpha(2)-macroglobulin (alpha(2)M). It has been demonstrated that monoamine-activated forms of human and rat alpha(2)M and rat alpha(1)M can bind to TrkA and, respectively, inhibit and stimulat
A cloned human hepatoma cell line (Li-7A), possessing epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptors numbering in the range of 10-20 pmol/106 cells, was inhibited in its growth by EGF as well as an antagonist monoclonal antibody (MoAb) to the EGF receptor. The mode of action of the two ligands of EGF recep
