✦ Synopsis

The electronic spectrum of 4,4'-bipyridyl radical cation included in p-cyclodextrin has been studied by induced circular dichroism (ICD) spectroscopy and MO calculations. The ESR spectrum has also been observed, to identify the radical. To our knowledge this is the first report on ICD of a radical ion.
