XVI i) alpine tectonics and metamorphism of the Western Alps;
ii) active volcanoes of Sicily; and iii) biostratigraphy and magnetostratigraphy of the Gubbio sequence and K/T field. A mid-symposium excursion to the nearby historic cities of Santa Dgimiano and Voltiera was also held for all the participants.
The symposium was a resounding success and showed the vitality of current Antarctic earth science research.
