โฆ Synopsis
Data are presented which indicate that uptake of calcium sulphate by sea Water brines can be increased from about 0.8% to 3 or 6",/, by aiuminium chloride or hydrochloric acid additions resp-G&y. The advantage of such ittmaxd sotubility in postponement of calcium sulphatc scaling and of descaling of sea water e-apotltion ptants etc. is ckarly indicated. A possible relationship between cqstaf structure and solubility is discussed and 'closed Ioop' dcscaling u-zth the addition of hydrochloric acid is suggested as an alternative to mechanicA chipping for rerno~l of calcium sulphare deposits.
