Ischaemic stroke induces endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) mobilisation from bone marrow into peripheral blood. Circulating EPCs play an important role in post-injury regeneration of vasculature, whereas endothelial cells (ECs) have been shown to reflect endothelial damage and may be responsible for
