This article describes the influence of ideological values on couples' experience of infertility. Contextual issues are considered in terms of how they influence medical decision making as well as emotional factors. Strengthβbased counseling interventions that attend to couples' diverse values are described. Last, implications for counselors, educators, and researchers are discussed.
