**Background** Patients receiving red‐blood‐cells may form antibodies against the alloantigens expressed by red‐blood‐cells, with the risk of serious morbidity and the need for extensive phenotype‐matching in subsequent transfusions. The incidence of alloimmunization is considered variable for speci
