The evolution of chlorine bubbles on technologically important anodes has been studied using in situ microscopy and measurements of electrochemical noise. Images of RTO (ruthenium-titanium oxide) electrode surfaces evolving gas show that the surfaces display heterogeneous bubble detachment kinetics.
