High pressure X-ray diffraction experiments have been performed on MnS, with both conventional X-ray source and synchrotron radiation. MnS, undergoes a pressure-induced first-order structural phase transition from the cubic pyrite-type to the orthorhombic marcasite-type phase at about 140 kbar with
