✦ Synopsis

In Volume XIV (1960) we published a short In Memoriam on P . D . DAMAS born in 1877 and deceased in 1959 . Now his son HUBERT who succeeded his father as a professor of Zoology (Morphology, Systematics and Ecology) at the University of Liege, came to die by an accident .

HUBERT DAMAS was born September 27th 1910 at Etterbeek (Brussels) and died on April 19th 1964 . He studied zoology with his father and became doctor rerum naturalis (Zoology) on August 12th 1933 and on June 17th 1943 he became agrege de l'enseignement superieur. He was appointed as "chef de travaux" (chief assistent) in 1948 and in 1953 he partly succeeded his father as professor .

Between 1930 and 1936 he stayed several months in biological stations in Europe : Roscoff, Wimereux, where he afterwards came back with his students, Hillerod, Plon and at Lunz . He was willingly seen at the international congresses of Limnology at Belgrado (1934), Paris (1937), Zurich (1948), Belgium (1950) where he was one of the organizers, Cambridge (1953), Vienna (1959) and Madison (1962) . In 1934 he was sent to Congo, National Albert Parc and stayed there till 1936 .

In 1957 he stayed in Ruanda-Urundi and in Katanga where he studied the lakes. The aim of his studies in Katanga was in the first place fishery-advancement .

HUBERT DAMAS was a fair and thoroughly honest man and therefore a good companion in all kinds of juries and commissions . He was also a beloved professor.
