During an investigation of the creep propertie@') it was found that t,he presence of oxygen widely altered t#he behaviour of the high purity metal. The silver used was 99.999 plus per cent purity, supplied by Johnson-Matthey in the form of 1 cm dia. cold A112, 542 (1926).
