✦ Synopsis
BEVERIDGE El A/.-ALUM FLOCCULA TlON PROCESS 267 taken. In these installations it might be expected that a stabilized source of emission would not be essential, and it is therefore interesting to note that Caldecourt and S a u n d e r s ~n ~~ have described a controlled source unit for use with the former spectrometer, whilst Hasler and Dietert, although using a high voltage condensed spark source for the work described in their original paper, specify in their catalogue a high powered controlled source unit for use with their direct reading instrument.
It is evident from this brief review of modern tendencies, that future developments in spectrographic analysis will incorporate stabilized source units as an essential part of the equipment. For precise stabilization achieved by accurate control of the triggering frequency and voltage, it is considered that electronically controlled equipment is to be preferred to that employing synchronous interrupters or other less accurate methods of timing.
