✦ Synopsis
The two-dimensional NMR INADEQUATE pulse sequence allows unambiguous determination of spin-spin connectivities, especially for dilnte spins such as -C, through the double-quantum transitions of the spin system. A development of the sequence is presented which allows sign-sensitive detection in the Fl dimension. The selectiou is obtained at two distinct stages, creation and observation of the double-quantum transitions. The originality of the proposed sequence consists in a simultaneous modilktion of the traditional phase programme and pulse angles. A judicious choice of pulse phases is shown, both theoretically and experimentally, to activate the third pulse; modification of its value can then improve the selectivity of the experiment.
