Abstract
The corrosion resistance of aluminium bronze may be considerably improved by additions of Si and Mn; 2% Si and 0.2% Mn yielded considerably increase of the corrosion resistance to hydrochlorid, sulfuric and phosphoric acids, sodium hydroxide and seawater. Addition of silicon alone improves the resistance to sodium chloride, too, not, however, the resistance to hydrochlorid acid. Addition of Mn has a synergistic effect; the amount of 0.2% used here has practically no influence on ultimate tensile strength, but ductility is decreased by both Si and Mn.
