thin-layer chromatography of dinitrophcnyl and sphingosines.
C 18-and C,,-phytosphingosine bases (DNP)-derivatives of phytosphingosincs were prepared from baker's yeast and converted to. the corresponding DNP-derivatives 2. The pure DNP-derivatives were isolated by preparative paper and thin-layer chromatography according to MICHALEC~. Separation of the individual derivatives was achieved as described earlier". The chemical structure was verified by oxidation with ICMnO, or HIO, and subsequent characterization of the cleavage products.
.This new chromatographic.method may find convenient use in the analysis of DNP-phytosphingosines and sphingosines in various animal and plant tissues.

An improved method for detecting glycoproteins labeled with fluorescent probe on SDS-polyacrylamide gel has been developed based on the previous method we reported previously. In the current method, instead of dansyl glycyl hydrazide (DNS-GLY-NHNH 2 ), fluorescein 5-thiosemicarbazide with a high ext
