yields of the title compounds are improved by protection of the precursor propynal ethynyl groups with dicobalt octacarbonyl: Lindsey porphyrin synthesis results in brown cobalt-carbonylprotected compounds which are oxidatively deprotected to yield green ethynyl-substituted porphyrins.
