โœฆ Synopsis

of the liver recipient list? (4) Should they be shared locally or regionally? (5) Should their use be regulated?

In the United States, where liver transplantations for FAP are uncommon, these thoughts may sound more like hair splitting than practical solutions. The issues are growing more complex as the combination of the domino and liver-splitting techniques provide additional grafts. These techniques have already been applied in the United Kingdom, Portugal, Japan, and France. 7,9 Domino liver transplantation is a valuable technique and is one of the few developments capable of providing, rather than consuming, liver grafts. Increasing experience will help define the indications for the best possible use of the domino grafts.

Oxidative mechanisms have been implicated in the pathogenesis of brain edema in acute liver failure (ALF). The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that inhibition of iron-catalyzed oxidative reactions through iron chelation using deferoxamine could attenuate brain edema in a swine model of

Recent data from animal studies suggest that induced hypothyroidism prevents the hyperdynamic circulation in portal vein ligated rats, liver cirrhosis in rats chronically treated with thioacetamide (TAA), and immune-mediated acute liver injury induced in mice by concanavalin A. Therefore, the aim of
