Tubular
potassium-selective flow-through electrodes were obtamed by treatmg slhcone-rubber tubing with a solution of vahnomycm m chloroform. They were compared with conventlonal PVC-based electrodes m a flow-through cell. When serum and whole blood were pumped contmuously for 30 mm and 5 h, the response and wash times for the electrodes were found to vary conslderably.
The slhcone rubber-based potassium sensor showed better btocompatlblhty with virtually unchanged dynamtc features after prolonged contact with blood.
