✦ Synopsis


A method to measure cell concentration in porous cellulose carriers was developed. Results of the comparison of 5 calorimetric assays showed that MlT(3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2.5diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) assay by the solubilization of the formazan with DMSO(dimethy1 sulfoxide) was the most suitable rnetbod for the measurement of cell concentration in porous cellulose carriers. The growth of CHO-Kl (Chinese hamster ovary)immobilized in different types of carrier was evaluated.
