## Abstract In this paper, an inhomogeneous, multilayered cylindrical stripline is analyzed using the 3D‐TLM method. Dispersion characteristics of dominant as well as higher‐order modes are obtained for single and coupled cylindrical striplines. Impedance characteristics for the dominant mode are a

and experimentally studied. The results indicate that with a small spacing of 1 mm between the two PIFAs, good isolation of better than Ϫ20 dB for frequencies over the 2.4-and 5-GHz bands can be achieved. Good radiation characteristics for the proposed two integrated PIFAs have also been obtained. The proposed design is especially suited for dual-module applications in a laptop computer.
