The outermost layers of the gasket may further include embossments, folds or other surface features designed to improve the fit, wear and sealing ability. The gasket includes at least two metallic gasket layers (26,28). Each gasket layer may be formed from different metals. However, it is preferred that both layers are formed from stainless steel due to its strength and durability. The layers are provided with corresponding bolt holes (30) for receiving a bolt fastener (32), and combustion bores (33) extending through them. The mating components (24, 26) are similarly provided with corresponding bolt holes.
