โฆ Synopsis
Damage track detectors are extensively applied for the assessment of low concentrations of alpha emitting radionuclides and the measurement of neutron doses in the entire neutron energy range of interest. Widespread applications of track detectors have occurred in large scale survey of radon gas in dwellings. Unfortunately, because of the recent ICRP recommendations, the sensitivity of damage track detectors for neutron dosimetry may result marginal. However, the unique registration characteristics of damage track detectors may be used to good advantage to solve these shortcomings.

The advantages and limitations of different etching processes of CR-39 detectors for personnel neutron dosimetry are analysed. The chemical etching can be considered the converse of the electrochemical etching, since the former provides very poor response to low energy neutrons, while the latter gre
