โฆ Synopsis
The paper discusses the behavior of advanced composite materials and the implications of this behavior on the analysis and design of composite structures . In particular, the deterministic versus probabilistic apsects of the behavior are considered, as well as the implications of the limited ductility exhibited by these materials under certain loadings .
The sensitivity of the material to stress concentrators and its fatigue and viscoelastic behavior are considered. The extent of investigations on the fracture mechanics of advanced composite materials is discussed.
