The contamination of groundwater of the source well and surrounding wells by the seepage of the reject water from a desalination plant has been studied. The abnormal increase in hardness of the groundwater has been explained by carrying out simulated experiments in the laboratory. Control measures to retain the efficiency of the desalination plant at the normal level have been suggested to solve the acute drinking water problem and to help the people in the coastal region especially during summer months.
