โฆ Synopsis
The complexity of the immune response is only beginning to unfold. It is becoming clear that a subtle and certainly complex interaction with exogenous events and internal dysregulation leads to the expression of intra-ocular inflammatory disease. In this short review an attempt is made to evaluate three areas. The first is the initiation of the immune response, with particular attention to the role of HLA and the environment. This is followed by the mechanisms that lead to disease expression, and the third area is the practitioner's attempt to exogenously manipulate these immune events in order to treat the patient.
