✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Biochemically purified and F(abβ€²)~2~ immunoglobulin fractions were prepared from several antisera, including a human serum, which contained anti‐zona pellucida activity. Antizona activity was monitored either by the formation of the antibody produced precipitation layer on the zona following antiserum treatment and/or by the indirect fluorescent antibody method. No changes in anti‐zona activity were observed when the purified and the digested immunoglobulin preparations from each antiserum were compared to their whole serum counterparts. It is concluded that anti‐zona binding to the zona as well as the formation of the precipitation layer on the zona is the result of a specific antigen antibody reaction.

## Abstract For sperm to fertilize eggs, they must first bind to the thick zona pellucida (ZP) that surrounds the plasma membrane of all unfertilized mammalian eggs. An extensive literature suggests that mouse sperm recognize and bind to a specific ZP glycoprotein called mZP3. However, the role of

The clinical utility of a flow cytometric assay (FCA) for intracellular HIV p24 antigen was evaluated in a group of HIV-1-infected subjects. A previously described method, p24-FCA (1), was modified to minimize nonspecific staining and to include irrelevant isotype-matched control antibodies. Blood m
