β¦ Synopsis
RESULTS.
Metastases were confirmed in 230 lymph nodes (9.4%) stained with H & E, moto, Japan. and an additional 201 lymph nodes (17.6%) had micrometastases identified only by immunostaining for cytokeratin (197 lymph nodes) and/or CEA (66). Carcinomas with micrometastases had significantly worse prognoses at Stage II. Between the two histologic types of gastric carcinoma, the diffuse type had more micrometastases than the intestinal type.
CONCLUSIONS.
The findings of this study indicate that the presence of micrometastases in lymph nodes is an indispensable factor in determining the prognosis of gastric carcinoma patients.

## BACKGROUND. The objective of this study was to define the sensitivity and clinical implications of the immunohistochemical detection of lymph node micrometastases in patients with gallbladder carcinoma (GBC). ## METHODS. The authors examined a total of 385 regional lymph nodes taken from 26

## Abstract ## Background and Objectives The sentinel lymph node (SN) theory has the potential to change the trend of surgery for gastric cancer that is based on wide resection of the stomach with dissection of regional lymph nodes. However, feasibility tests of SN mapping procedures in gastric ca
