## Abstract The allylation of 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds and malononitrile with aliphatic allylic substrates is achieved under mild conditions in the presence of new ruthenium catalysts. The ruthenium complex [Ru(C~5~Me~5~)(2‐quinolinecarboxylato)(CH~2~CHCH‐__n__‐Pr)] [BF~4~] as a precatalyst, allows

## Abstract Allylic alcohols, rather than halides, acetates, or carbonates can be used directly in the __Friedel–Crafts__‐type coupling with various phenols. The use of a Ru^IV^, rather than a Ru^II^, precursor promotes the formation of one H^+^ per cycle so that a large excess of acid is never pre
