โฆ Synopsis
Thrombolytic agents are used to restore coronary arlery per(uslon and Ilmtt the sire of a myocardial Infarcllon. The systemlc etfects of there drugs, streptoklnase (SK), urokinaae (UK), and recomblnant tlssue piaaminogen acllvator (rtPA), have been studied extensively. Although their ettscts on rheology and late myocardial performance have been welldocumented to date, there have not been any studies evaluating the acute hemodynamlc consequences of thrombolytics immediately after administration. In this report we ure an isolated Langendorf rodent heart preparation to evaluate the acute hernodynamic ettectr of thrombolytlc therapy on both the normal and the Ischemic myocardlum. We quantified performance by documenting cardlac output, coronary blood flow, and blood prwsure. Although each thrombotytlc agent 8lgnHlcantly trenslently Impairs cardlac performance, differences In effect between the agent8 were stntlstically InsignHlcant. Thl8 was also the case wlth both the normal as well aa the Ischemic myocardium. The resutts of this study would not support favoring the u w of one of thew agents over the other with regards to primary myocardial performanco.
