Immediate early genes induced by triggering of the TCR frequently encode proteins that act in signal transduction cascades. Recent advances concerning several immediate-early proteins have been made, including signal-induced regulation of NF-KB by IK-B, the role of Nur77 in T-cell selection and apoptosis, and the function of PAC-1 in regulating the Ras/ERK pathway.
