The Intelligent Manufacturing Decision Support System (IMDS) is a knowledge-based system that captures, stores, and retrieves engineering issues.for designated Westinghouse Electric Corporation products. IMDS is utilized in a very user:friendly manner that makes the computer processing virtually invisible (transparent) to the user. Its deployment is expected to yield an annual savings of $5,468,750 in operating costs and offer significant management benefits for the company.
