✦ Synopsis
March 2009
Fuel Cells Bulletin 9 residential cogeneration. Sales at this level would give revenue growth of 15-30%, in the $68m-$78m range. '2008 was a successful year for Ballard, both in terms of solid operating results and transformational progress,' comments John Sheridan, president/CEO. 'Given this progress, our outlook for 2009 is for strong commercial growth, despite the challenging macro-economic conditions. We expect this to be driven primarily by sales of our FCgen products for backup power in India and the European Union, and FCvelocity products for material handling in the US.' Accelerated adoption of Ballard's fuel cell products is evidenced by the high-volume supply agreement with IdaTech and ACME Tele Power in India announced last fall [FCB, November 2008], and the more recent extended supply agreement with Plug Power in tandem with the Central Grocers full fleet order for 220 GenDrive™ units, which will employ Ballard fuel cell stacks [FCB, February 2009].
