A fter more than 150 years, Dutch company IHC Lagersmit BV has left behind the shipyard in Kinderdijk and is now serving its clients from a new high-tech production facility in Alblasserdam.

Over the past 10 years the company has experienced a strong growth in sales and market share.

'The rapidly changing market requires innovative technology and products, short lead and delivery times, and guaranteed quality. So it was decided in 2008 to invest in new premises and a new production method,' explained Willem Steenge, Managing Director, IHC Lagersmit.

'It was not just a question of a new roof -our approach to production will be changing radically. The new production strategy is based on ''lean thinking'' and the machine park has undergone far-reaching automation.'
