✦ Synopsis

Ignition times of phenol-formaldehyde composite propellants having a variety of oxidizers and additives have been measured by a hot plate technique. The data have been used to compute the activation energy of the ignition process. These studies indicate the possibility that different mechanisms may dominate the ignition process depending upon the heating temperature.
