## Abstract The neural cell adhesion molecule L1 contains immunoglobulin‐like (Ig) domains in its extracellular region that mediate homophilic binding, neurite outgrowth and other activities relevant to CNS development. To correlate conformations of these domains to biological function, several L1‐
