The main degradation by-products of the herbicide chlortoluron formed during water disinfection with HOCl/ClO(-) have been separated and identified by liquid chromatography/electrospray ionisation sequential mass spectrometry (LC/ESI-MS(n)). Chlorination and hydroxylation reactions seem to occur exc
