✦ Synopsis

An analysis of normal modes observed in measurements of reflection, transmission, and true absorption is presented. It is found that individual modes can be identified and sometimes resolved as dips in reflection measurements, and peaks in transmission measurements. The split mode energy ``bandsº are most easily interpreted in measurements of true absorption.
