The identification of the hallucinogen, 2,5-dimethoxyamphetamine, in illicit seizures using spectroscopic techniques is described. The difficulties in the interpretation of the IR spectra as a result of positional isomers and also the anomalies found during GC analysis are covered. The NMR and mass spectroscopic data are explained.
