✦ Synopsis
The emission spectrum of Cl* in Ar is re-examined using Tesla discharge sources containing isotopically pure 'Q and W2. Earlier speculation that the dominant emission near 2580 A is due to the D' 2,( 'P,) -+A' 2,( 'II) transition is confirmed, with the following constants (cm-') obtained for these states: AT,=40125.4, w;=253.17, w: =257.27. A weaker band system in the same spectral region is tentatively assigned to g 11( 3P2) +A 1 .( 'II )
