โฆ Synopsis
U K-based Rolls-Royce has signed an agreement with EnerTek Singapore Pte Ltd, a consortium of Singaporean companies, to together invest US$100 million in developing a commercially viable power system based on solid oxide fuel cell technology. Under the terms of the agreement EnerTek will hold a 25% stake in Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems Ltd (RRFCS), a subsidiary established in January 2003 to manage Rolls-Royce's R&D activities in this field.
The Singapore consortium will also bring technology and expertise to the project, particularly in ceramics, manufacturing automation and core research. One of the consortium investors, Accuron Technologies, is supplying RRFCS with ceramic components through its subsidiary, Advanced Materials Technologies. EnerTek also comprises EDB Investments Pte Ltd (an investment subsidiary of the Singapore Economic Development Board) and investment company Temasek Holdings.
