A loser in love, Ellie Lambert works at underground comic book company Full Court Press in a small northern California town. When her bosses, aging hippies Roger and Bonnie, cast entertainer Russell Owens to play counterculture superhero Muskman at the upcoming comic convention in Las Vegas, Ellie agrees to let Russell ride with her to Vegas. She senses an attraction between them and begins fantasizing that he could be the one, even thinking about desert sex. Then he shows up to carpool with bleach blond, very hot Tiffy. Its a loooooong ride to Vegas, where the convention comes together and things are going well until Sludge, the obnoxious ex-partner of Roger, Bonnie and Spencer, their artistic partner, steals Muskman, Volume 1, Number 1. Its the only known existing copy of the issue, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Meanwhile, Ellie is torn between her attraction to the annoying but incredibly talented Russell, and Brian, the perfect guy on paper she dated when she lived in Vegas, who is engaged but thrilled to see her. As this drama plays out, the Full Court Press group attempts to pull off a sting to get the comic back, with far-reaching repercussions.
