Summary
The case highlights the importance of providing a safe environment for individuals with learning disabilities to talk about their experiences and, particularly, their perspective on living with their learning disabilities. In particular, the case examines the experiences of a young lady who engaged in therapy, employing cognitive behavioural principles, in an attempt to address her negative self‐evaluation and understanding of the terms, learning disability and mental handicap.
