โฆ Synopsis
In recent years there has been an ever increasing interest in coordination compounds containing metals in a low oxidation state. These compounds play important roles in a variety of chemical systems, e.o. in electron transfer catalysis 1 or as donors toward molecular Lewis acids 2. As far as rhodium complexes are concerned there is an extensive chemistry for the element in the (+ I) state, but only a few types of compounds in lower oxidation states are known 3. The rhodium(-I), [Rh(CO)2(PPh3)2]-, complex has been reported by Collman et al.4; it was obtained * Vi~ek and Rusina examined the polarographic reduction of the same compound under quite different experimental conditions. No detailed results are reported 8.
