✦ Synopsis

The paper presents the results of an experimental study of hysteresis losses in a transverse magnetic field by samples that represent small coils made of round wire of Nb-Ti alloy. The experimental results turned out to be considerably different from the values computed by the methods described in the fiterature. A theoretical analysis has been conducted of the effect of the demagnetization factors of the conductor and the field, associated with magnetization of other turns of the winding, and used as the basis for obtaining sufficiently general closed-form types of dependence which make it possible to compute the losses with a high degree of accuracy.
